"I recently retired and my new passion is golf. My legs had huge varicose veins and I was embarrassed to wear shorts. My golf buddies were cruel! I came to Dr. White for treatment and I couldn't believe it. My veins were collapsed before I left his office, and it took about a week for the bruises to go away and I was ready for business! I couldn't be happier!"

"I had big ropy varicose veins all over my legs. I went to several places to talk about varicose vein treatment. At one place, I didn't even get to see the doctor. A nurse made a decision about how I should be treated. I was going to have to come back several times for multiple 20 minute appointments. At another place, I did see a doctor and he did an exam. He told me that my saphenous vein was incompetent and that I would need a procedure that would cost $5000 per leg! Then I found out he wasn't even a vascular doctor, but an emergency room doctor! Then I went to Dr. White, who is a vascular surgeon. He did a vascular exam on me at no charge right at the time of the consultation. He told me that my saphenous veins were competent and that I didn't need the expensive procedure. He and his staff treated all my veins at one time and the cost was ¼ of what I had been quoted at the other center. I am thrilled. For me, it was all about trust. I really trust Dr. White."

PATIENT TESTIMONIALS
Veinablation™ is a unique and revolutionary treatment for ropy varicose veins and spider veins. Developed by Palmer H. White M.D., a prominent vascular surgeon in Marin County, this procedure is not being performed anywhere else in the world.

Veinablation™ is new, exciting and one of the most effective vein treatment available today. In the past, ropy varicose veins had to be treated in the hospital by surgical stripping. With Veinablation™, a breakthrough, non-invasive laser procedure, all veins, even large ones, can be treated in the office. Frequently, the ropy veins collapse at the time of treatment. In 99 to 100% of cases treated, patients walk in with ropy varicose veins and walk out with their veins collapsed before they leave the office. There is virtually no scarring and no stitches, and there is no down time for the patient. Veinablation™ is also extremely effective at treating spider veins, achieving up to an 80% reduction in just one treatment, and eradicating the remainder with a short touch-up. With Veinablation™, there is no need for the multiple, 10 minute sessions required in procedures that use sclerotherapy and less effective lasers.
What is Veinablation™?
Veinablation™ is a new definitive treatment for ropy varicose veins and reticular veins of the legs developed by Palmer H. White, M.D., a vascular surgeon. It is the newest, most exciting and effective treatment for ropy veins available and is not being performed anywhere else in the country.
Ropy Veins:
In the past, ropy varicose veins could only be treated with surgery. However, with Veinablation™, a combination of Yag Laser and Sclerotherapy, over 90% of these veins, even the large ones, can be treated non-invasively (without surgery). Frequently ropy veins collapse at the end of treatment with no damage to the skin and NO DOWN TIME.
Spider Veins:
Laser Light Treatment Center has recently purchased the newest, most effective laser for the treatment of spider veins. Presently, only three exist on the West Coast. Using this latest generation of laser plus a unique technique for injecting veins, 60% to 80% of all spider veins are cleared within twelve weeks of treatment with minimal discomfort. Because the underlying cause of spider veins is also treated, they are less likely to reappear. Sclerotherapy using saline for spider veins is a thing of the past.
What causes spider and varicose veins?
Many factors contribute to the formation of varicose and spider veins. The effects of time, gravity and genetic influence all cause veins, which normally function to carry blood back to the heart, to lose the tight seal of their valves causing blood to back up. This, in turn, forces the thin-walled veins to expand, resulting in ropy or blue reticular veins. Engorged capillaries then expand several times their normal size forming spider veins.

How can I determine if this treatment would be good for me?
To know if you are a candidate for Veinablation™ treatment, a trained physician must evaluate you. Unsightly veins are always caused by a failure somewhere in the venous system of your legs. Our comprehensive assessment and treatment regimen identifies the underlying cause of your varicose and spider veins and effectively treats your veins so that they do not come back. Venous Doppler examination takes place at the time of consultation and is complimentary.
What is the treatment like?
Veinablation™ consists of a comprehensive primary treatment with follow up visit in four weeks and again at 12 weeks to check progress and determine if a touch up treatment is necessary. Yag Laser treatment feels like a short, non-enduring sting resembling the snap of a rubber band. For those with a low pain threshold, we provide medication to enhance relaxation if patients arrange for someone to drive them home. Laser treatment for spider veins also feels like a short, non-enduring sting. Generally patients tolerate the procedure with little difficulty.
When will I be able to return to my normal activities?
Patients experience NO DOWN TIME. However, we encourage patients to relax, avoid being on their feet long hours the first day after treatment and refrain from taking a hot bath the first 24 hours. Aerobic exercise can be resumed a few days later. You can return to work immediately. In addition, we provide compression hose that should be worn the first 24 hours after treatment and then during the day (only) for a few days. Our hose are so attractive that many of our patients come back to buy them for everyday wear.
What kind of results can be expected?
It is essential to have realistic expectations. Our combined Yag Laser and Sclerotherapy heat and occlude treated vessels. The body then absorbs the vessels in much the same way it does a bruise. Depending on how much tissue must be absorbed, this process takes time. It does not erase veins immediately. Ninety percent of patients, especially those with big blue varicose veins, see excellent results immediately, with most ropy veins collapsing at the time of treatment. Patients with small spider veins should expect 60% to 80% clearance with the initial treatment. Fading generally begins in four weeks and may take as long as eight to twelve weeks. Because underlying problems are addressed, spider veins are less likely to return.
